3 possible replacements to correct Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey mistake

Arsenal will lose one of its best midfielders with no compensation when the curtain falls on the 2018-19 season. Alright, you can debate his status but there’s no disputing Aaron Ramsey is the longest-serving player in the Arsenal team. This final campaign will be the Welshman’s 11th with the Gunners.

He Said

If we’re to go with Ramsey’s side of the story, Arsenal decided not to extend his contract. The club initially approached him with a new deal, post-Arsene Wenger, then backed out of negotiations soon after Unai Emery took charge.
It's difficult to believe the Gunners balked at a bumper pay-rise. Transfermarkt rates the 27-year-old at €45 million. How much money could Ramsey have demanded for Arsenal to let that valuation walk out the door? Even if they can sell him in January --I'll wait for you to stop laughing-- no club will pony up top dollar when no fee will be attached in June. More likely, Emery was initially unimpressed with Ramsey.

Consequences

Add to the lost revenue the chance Ramsey could sign for a Premier League rival such as Chelsea, Spurs or Manchester United. The Gunners no longer have a say in the matter. Their top assist provider this term could be damaging their title aspirations next.
It's simply bad business from the Arsenal hierarchy. A two-year contract would’ve put Ramsey on the leash and given Arsenal influence over the player’s next destination. And they'd be paid. Whether or not they'll cop to it, this was a mistake.

Options

With Ramsey’s time at the Emirates expiring quickly, Gunners transfer guru Sven Mislintat must consider his replacement. My calls keep going directly to his voicemail, so I'll list the top three choices from my extensive scouting trip here.

Emery confirms worrying transfer news for Arsenal on Thursday

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has confirmed some worrying news for Arsenal fans with less than three weeks now left in the January transfer window.   The Arsenal boss managed to sign several players during the summer but most of the deals were for a cheap price, significantly lesser than what rivals Chelsea and Liverpool were paying for their new signings. Following the recent 5-1 humiliation away to Liverpool in the Premier League which exposed most of the team’s serious problems, several fans have been calling for signings to be made this month. However, speaking on transfers at his press conference on Thursday morning, Unai Emery revealed that the club is not financially capable of making any permanent purchases of players at the moment. Thus, the Arsenal boss insists that loans deal will be the Gunners’ best bet in the January transfer windo...
