Arsenal Handed Major Injury Boost

Arsenal boss Unai Emery's options for the trip to West Ham have been boosted by the return to action of six first-team players. The Spaniard's options, particularly in defence, have been limited in recent weeks due to injuries so he was delighted to see so many of his regulars return to training this week. Hector Bellerin hasn't played since the loss at Southampton due to a calf issue but should feature at the London Stadium, while Nacho Monreal and Shkodran Mustafi have overcome hamstring injuries to be passed fit. Laurent Koscielny has also been cleared to play after being forced to pull out of the Arsenal team for the FA Cup third-round win at Blackpool during the warm-up due to back spasms. Dinos Mavropanos is also available to Emery for the first time since he took charge after the Greek defender finally overcame a groin issue. Mesut Ozil is also ready to go having been left out of the Gunners squad in recent weeks due to a knee injury, although it remains to be ...

Various Reports Confirm Mesut Özil Will Miss Arsenal's Match Against Liverpool Through Injury

Arsenal midfielder  Mesut Özil will not be part of Unai Emery's squad which faces Liverpool at Anfield during the late kick-off on Saturday. The World Cup-winning playmaker trained as normal before the team travelled up to Merseyside on Friday, but  Özil did not join his teammates on the 200 mile trip to the north-west. That is because, as the  Daily Mail   among others report,  Özil  complained about a knee injury which was picked up during  Arsenal's  recent 1-1 draw against  Brighton  before boarding the coach to Anfield. The same publication has previously claimed that  Özil would be used sparingly away from home - especially against the 'top six' - as he can't provide the same level of high-intensity pressing which Emery demands from his attacking players. Respected journalist David Ornstein also confirmed the news of  Özil's absence late on Friday evening, just hours after telling BBC 5 Live that a...

According to BBC Sport’s David Ornstein, the World Cup winner trained with the squad on Friday but later complained of pain in his knee which led to Ozil being withdrawn from Arsenal’s travelling party for their trip to Merseyside. Things seemed to be on the up for Ozil, the attacking midfielder has started Arsenal’s last two matches against Burnley and Brighton despite failing to earn a start in the six weeks leading up to the clash against Burnley. Ozil was named captain for both encounters but his latest injury could prove to be a major setback as it seemed as though he had just forced himself back into the Gunners lineup.

Arsenal Dealt Major Injury Blow Ahead Of Liverpool Showdown

Arsenal have been dealt a major blow after Mesut Ozil was ruled out of this evening’s crucial showdown with Liverpool at Anfield due to a knee injury. Ozil was expected to be in contention for a starting spot against the Premier League leaders this evening after training with the rest of the Arsenal first team squad at London Colney on Friday afternoon. However, the 30-year-old wasn’t among the travelling party that arrived on Merseyside on Friday night and reports soon emerged that the playmaker was forced out of the squad with a knee injury. BBC journalist  David Ornstein reported on social media  that Ozil complained of pain in his knee after training on Friday and Arsenal staff decided to leave him out of the squad to face Liverpool later today. Arsenal fans HAPPY with Henrikh Mkhitaryan injury and believe transfer deal is now ON

The Gunners injury woes have continued after it was revealed today that attacking-midfielder Mkhitaryan will be out of action until February with a foot injury. An update on the club website simply read: “Right foot. Fractured metatarsal. Expected to return to full training in six weeks.” The ex-Manchester United man has had an indifferent season, with many questioning his consistency, despite featuring in 14 Premier League fixtures. Mkhitaryan was left out of the Gunners match day squad for Saturday’s 3-1 win over Burnley. And it appears his omission was due to fracturing his metatarsal, one of the most common foot injuries in football. It is not clear where the injury stems from specifically, with the Armenia international appearing regularly prior to last weekend. But  Football London  journalist Charles Watts believes it dates back to an incident in the north London derby in the Carabao Cup last Wednesday. He tweeted: “Think the Mkhitaryan injury comes f...

Arsenal injury crisis deepens as Mkhitaryan out for six weeks with fractured metatarsal

Arsenal playmaker will be out until February after breaking his right foot against Tottenham HENRIKH MKHITARYAN has fractured a metatarsal in his right foot and is expected to be out of action for six weeks. It is understood the Arsenal playmaker, 29, sustained the injury in a challenge with Lucas Moura in the Carabao Cup clash at the Emirates last Wednesday. The ball fell towards him after a corner and as he went to let fly, the Spurs man nicked the ball away. It meant Mkhitaryan clattered into Lucas and was left writhing in pain as Tottenham countered. The incident happened just before half-time and the Armenian did not continue after the break. And he was then not in the Arsenal matchday squad for Burnley's visit to the Emirates at the weekend.
