Arsenal in race for £80m-rated La Liga winger

Lionel Messi is certain Arsenal transfer target Ousmane Dembele is capable of fulfilling his potential at Camp Nou.

The France winger moved to Borussia Dortmund as a virtual unknown two years ago from Rennes having been identified by the Gunners’ current head of recruitment Sven Mislintat.
The Wolrd Cup winner subsequently moved to Barcelona in €105 million transfer last summer, but injuries and bouts of off-field indiscipline have hampered his development.
The France international has regularly been fined for arriving late to training while Ernesto Valverde imposed a mobile phone ban on the speedy winger earlier this month.
Arsenal continue to be linked with the 21-year-old, who scored one of the best goals in this season’s Champions League during his side’s recent 1-1 draw against Tottenham.
Speaking about the potential of his teammate, Lionel Messi told Marca: “On the pitch, he is a phenomenon, and it depends on him, he has all the opportunity in the world to do what he wants.
‘He can be one of the best. On the other hand, he’s a young guy who is adapting to the city and the club.
‘The less you speak about it, the better. It’s necessary to leave him so he can be calm. He has already realised his mistakes and has rectified them. We are going to help him focus on football.’
