Arsenal are preparing move for Real Valladolid centre-back Fernando Calero, as Unai Emery has struggled for options in central defence due to injuries and now faces the rest of the season without Rob Holding.
Laurent Koscielny is closing in on a return, but the north London club are searching for a new long-term replacement for the 33-year-old.
And Cadena SER claims, Fernando Calero is on Arsenal’s radar, who only made his professional debut a year ago, but his displays for Valladolid have attracted interest from clubs in La Liga, as well as across Europe.
Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla are also keen on a move for the defender, who has just under three years left on his current contract.
The 23-year-old could be available for a cut-price fee as he has a €11 million (£10m) release clause in his deal.
But Cadena SER suggests that Fernando Calero has given his word to Valladolid that he will not leave them in the January transfer window if a club activates his buyout clause and will only move on when the club can agree a higher fee.
But if Spanish club decide to keep him for the rest of the season, the defender will leave once his £10 million clause is activated.
