Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is on the lookout for attacking reinforcements with current options Morata and Olivier Giroud failing to meet expectations.
That’s prompted the Italian to dip into the January transfer window and it seems he’s going back to his homeland in order to secure his ideal striker.
Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for AC Milan forward Higuain, who is currently on loan from Juventus, for some time.
Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia has reportedly been in charge of negotiations over a deal with Milan sporting director Leonardo.
And talks appear to have gone well with Italian publication Sports MediaSet claim Higuain’s departure is now ‘inevitable’ with the final details of the deal all but ‘agreed’.
Higuain now looks set to move on a six-month loan deal to west London which could be extended depending on his performances in the second half of the season.
The Argentine is still under contract with Juve though and the Serie A champions still need to agree to the proposed January deal.
With Higuain coming in, Morata looks set to head in the opposite direction but on an 18-month loan to the San Siro.
