Arsenal are ready to make a transfer move for Real Madrid shot-stopper Keylor Navas ahead of the January transfer window.
The Costa Rica international has been demoted to play second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois this season. Navas has been stuck to the bench for the most part of the season and last played a league match in October but still remains highly rated across Europe.
Top Spanish tabloid Mundo Deportivo claims that Navas is likely to leave Madrid in January and Arsenal are one of the favourites to land the 32-year-old star. However, the report also mentions that Navas has received offers from France and Italy.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery is reportedly looking at options in the goalkeeping department. Petr Cech has been struggling this season and at age 36 is past his best years. While Bernd Leno has struggled to be consistent in the past few weeks as he continues to make some high profile mistakes.
Navas fits the profile of a high-quality goalkeeper who still has 2-3 years at the top of his game and brings loads of winning experience to the young squad. Navas current contract runs until 2020 and the Madrid outfit would look to cash-in this January rather than allow him to run down his contract next season.
