Arsenal already have a new centre-back loved by Emery

“Just like a new signing” was a popular cliche used by Arsene Wenger during his reign at the club – when players return from long term injuries during the transfer window, the French tactician always defends the low budget of the club, with claim that the said injury returnee is just like a new signing.
Following the porous nature of their defence, Arsene were tipped to sign a centre-back in this window. Alas, the names on the transfer radar of the club are mainly Denis Suarez, James Rodriguez and Yannick Carrasco, all of whom are not defenders.
Arsenal sturdy centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos featured for the u23s against Manchester City for the first time after five months and he has been dubbed “just like a new signing”

The Greek rising star was on the sideline for the first half of the season following an injury that took longer that expected to heal. Rob Holding, Mustafi and Sokratis were the key centre-backs for Arsenal at the start of the season but the injury to Holding exposed us and left us with almost no option.
Mavropanos played up to 70 mins for the B team to ease himself into full action, and he was impressive. The U23 coceded only one goal in that game, which is said to be the least number of goals they have conceded in a game, bring to mind how solid the Greek star is.

Arsenal have conceded a staggering 32 goals this season, more than even Newcastle in 18 place but they won’t sign a new defender because Mavrapanos is the artificial new signing.

Emery confirms worrying transfer news for Arsenal on Thursday

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has confirmed some worrying news for Arsenal fans with less than three weeks now left in the January transfer window.   The Arsenal boss managed to sign several players during the summer but most of the deals were for a cheap price, significantly lesser than what rivals Chelsea and Liverpool were paying for their new signings. Club owner Stan Kroenke has been criticised by most fans for refusing to spend enough money when needed in the transfer market. Following the recent 5-1 humiliation away to Liverpool in the Premier League which exposed most of the team’s serious problems, several fans have been calling for signings to be made this month. However, speaking on transfers at his press conference on Thursday morning, Unai Emery revealed that the club is not financially capable of making any permanent purchases of players at the moment. Thus, the Arsenal boss insists that loans deal will be the Gunners’ best bet in the January transfer windo...
