Arsenal on the verge of signing 24-year-old Barcelona star

Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez is close to completing a move to Emirates after falling out of favour at the Camp Nou.

The Spaniard has made just two league appearances so far this season, and at 24 years of age, he is desperate for more regular first-team football.

Dennis Suarez worked under Unai Emery at Sevilla, and Arsenal are expected to pay around £14 million to complete the deal. The Spaniard’s arrival will be viewed as a direct replacement for Aaron Ramsey, who looks set to join Juventus on a free transfer.

However, the Gunners see little value in offloading Aaron Ramsey now and want to keep him for the rest of the season as they target a spot in the top four.

Dennis Suarez has one cap for Spain and was tracked by Roma and AC Milan before the north London club pipped the Serie A giants to his services.

The 24-year-old ace spent two years in Manchester City’s academy but was allowed to move back to Spain as he was homesick.

Unai Emery would like to bolster at centre-back in the January transfer window, but Unai Emery’s side are short on funds and may have to sell before they can buy again.
