Why this 20-year-old Champions League winner could be the man to solve Arsenal’s defensive woes

Why Achraf Hakimi would be the ideal option to solve Arsenal’s defensive woes

Achraf Hakimi became the first Moroccan footballer to get his hands on the UEFA Champions League when he won it with Real Madrid in 2017-18. A product of Madrid’s youth system, he played for the reserves before making his first-team debut in the La Liga last season.
However, he was sent out on a two-season loan deal to Borussia Dortmund to get more regular minutes and continue his development in the right direction. And few would argue that the 20-year-old highly-rated right-back has already shown signs of developing into a finished product.
Hakimi, who was a part of Morocco’s squad at the 2018 FIFA World Cup at Russia, is known for his versatility and work rate as a full-back. Essentially a right-back by trade, he has also been used as a left-back and as a centre-back due to his superior physical presence.
In fact, Hakimi has been used as a left-back at Dortmund this season and has still managed to produce his best football.
A typical modern-day attack-minded full-back, Hakimi is very solid and compact at the back, while also providing an extra attacking outlet down the flanks with his powerful overlapping runs.

Emery confirms worrying transfer news for Arsenal on Thursday

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has confirmed some worrying news for Arsenal fans with less than three weeks now left in the January transfer window.   The Arsenal boss managed to sign several players during the summer but most of the deals were for a cheap price, significantly lesser than what rivals Chelsea and Liverpool were paying for their new signings. Club owner Stan Kroenke has been criticised by most fans for refusing to spend enough money when needed in the transfer market. Following the recent 5-1 humiliation away to Liverpool in the Premier League which exposed most of the team’s serious problems, several fans have been calling for signings to be made this month. However, speaking on transfers at his press conference on Thursday morning, Unai Emery revealed that the club is not financially capable of making any permanent purchases of players at the moment. Thus, the Arsenal boss insists that loans deal will be the Gunners’ best bet in the January transfer windo...
