Arsenal are thinking about selling Lucas Torreira after Serie A side AC Milan lodged their first offer for the star, according to reports.
Earlier in June, the Uruguayan sparked talk surrounding his future at the Emirates by admitting that he preferred life in Italy.
Lucas impressed in his first campaign with the Gunners after he was purchased in a £26.5 million deal from Sampdoria the previous summer.
According to Italy’s media outlet Sport Mediaset, AC Milan have submitted a two-year loan offer for the midfielder worth up to €8 million (£7m) and includes a €38 million (£34m) right-to-buy option that would be paid in one instalment.
The report states that Arsenal have responded by telling Rossoneri that they are prepared to negotiate and they would want an obligatory purchase clause as part of the reported deal.
Former Gunners chief executive Ivan Gazidis is spearheading Rossoneri’s push to sign Torreira as he’s wanted by the club’s new head coach Marco Giampaolo, who worked with the South American at Sampdoria.
The club are working with a tight transfer kitty this summer following their failure to secure a place in next year’s Champions League.
Unai Emery has around £40 million to spend on new signings, although his transfer budget will be boosted with any star sales.
Meantime, Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic reportedly wants to sign for Arsenal in this summer’s transfer market, according to The Sun.
Perisic, who played an important role in Croatia reaching the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, has been linked with a transfer away from Inter over the last few weeks.
